Eugene Henning is an admitted attorney and obtained his B.Com, LLB and MBA degrees from the University of Stellenbosch. He practiced as an attorney where after he worked as a Legal Advisor for Bidvest in the United Kingdom. Upon his return to South Africa, he worked as a Legal Advisor in the financial services industry.
He currently acts as the Chief Executive Officer at MyPlayers and is responsible to oversee and manage the operations at the Players’ Organisation.
General Manager: Player Affairs
Mandisi Tshonti obtained a BA degree in Human Movement Studies and an Honours degree in Social Development at the University of the Western Cape (UWC). He was employed at UWC for 10 years where he fulfilled numerous positions, namely as the strength and conditioning coach at UWC rugby club and sport administrator at UWC Sports.
He joined the MyPlayers team in 2013 and is currently the General Manager of Player Affairs.
National Player Relationship Manager
Former Western Province flyhalf Isma-eel Dollie is part of the MyPlayers team as the National Player Relationship Manager. He was concluded in the Springbok training group in 2008 under head coach Pieter de Villiers. He also enjoyed a stint in Japan playing for the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries from 2011-2012.
Isma-eel holds a Bachelor of Social Science degree, a post graduate diploma in Management and a post graduate certificate in Education. He also gained experience at Wynberg Boys’ Junior where he was employed as the school’s Marketing Manager.
National Player Development Manager
Hilana Claassens joined the MyPlayers team in 2018 as their Player Development Manager. She is a qualified Industrial Psychologist, registration number PS (0141984). Her educational venture started at the University of the Free State, where she completed both her Undergraduate and Honours degrees in Industrial Psychology, and ended at the University of Johannesburg, where she obtained her Masters of Commerce Degree in Industrial Pshychology.
Before joining the Players’ Organisation, she completed her Industrial Psychology internship at Maccauvlei Learning Academy and worked for them as Psychometric and New Business Consultant.
Marco Botha graduated from Stellenbosch University (SU) with the degrees BA (Sport Science) and BPhil (Journalism). He worked at Media24 for nine years as a rugby writer, editor and then publisher. He is the author of “Coach – How South African Sports Leaders Cultivate Excellence” (“Die Baanbrekers” in Afrikaans). Since 2017, he has been an Afrikaans rugby commentator for SuperSport. During this time, he also managed independent research projects on governance and player welfare for stakeholders in South African rugby. He is currently enrolled at Harvard University’s Extension School as a “Master of Liberal Arts, Management” degree candidate.
He joined the Players’ Organisation in 2020 where he fulfills his duties as Communication Manager.
Senior Financial Manager
Welmarie van der Spuy
Welmarie van der Spuy is a qualified Chartered Accountant and joined the MyPlayers team as a Senior Financial Manager. She gained 8 years of work experience as a Financial Manager at the popular retail giant Fruit and Veg in the Western Cape. She also worked at PKF and Ernest Young, where she was a Trainee Accountant and Senior Internal Auditor respectively.
Helga is a graduate from the University of Stellenbosch, where she obtained her B.Com degree in Financial Accounting. She previously worked at Bernard Shaw Ouditeure Inc, where she completed her SAIPA article, before joining the MyPlayers as a financial manager in 2015. Helga is a register member of the South African Institute of Professional Accountants (SAIPA).
General Manager: Financial Services
David de Villiers
David de Villiers is a graduate from Stellenbosch University and Unisa with a B.Acc degree and B.Compt honours degree respectively. He is currently studying to obtain a Chartered Institute of Management Accountants qualification.
He has more than three years’ experience in compiling financial statements, delivering tax advice and final audits with companies like BGR auditors & PWC. He also played professional rugby for the Boland Cavaliers, Cheetahs and Lions before retiring in 2011.
David started to work at MyPlayers in 2012 and is now the General Manager of Financial Services.
GM: Legal, Compliance and Governance
Andrea de Jongh
AndreaobtainedherBAdegree in Value and Policy Studies at Stellenbosch University (SU). She furthered her studies in Human Resource Management and Industrial Psychology, and obtainedher LLB (three-year postgraduate programme) degree in 2007.
During her LLM studies, Andrea worked as a research assistant and junior lecturer in the Department of Private Law and served on the University’s Central Disciplinary Committee. She was a guest lecturer at SU and its Business School’s NPOs Management Programme until 2017. She is an admitted attorney, and was a senior associate at Maserumule Corporate Employment Law until March 2018, where she remained in a consulting and training facilitator capacity while lecturing to undergraduate students. Thereafter, she was seconded to Uber South Africa Technology Services (Pty) Ltd through Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr Incorporated, serving in the role of External Counsel, Labor & Employment (MEA and Pakistan) before she joined the Players’ Organisation in 2020 as General Manager: Legal, Compliance and Governance. Andrea is an eternal student, and will always be pursuing another degree.
Tracey Cable was one of the first employees who started working at the Players’ Organisation. She was also the first female member on the team and today she is the anchor of the MyPlayers office. She started her journey on the 1st of April 1999 and celebrated 20 years of working for the Players’ Organisation in 2019.
