The Players’ Organisation
“Empowering players, contributing to the game”
Welcome to MyPlayers, the players’ and match officials organisation of all the professional rugby players and match officials in South Africa. The organisation was established in 1997 with its main purpose to manage the collective interests of the players and later on also the match officials. The prominent collective interests managed revolve around intellectual property utilisation, core financial services requirements, industrial agreements and personal career development.
The organisation is owned by the professional players and together with the match officials they form part of the strategic leadership by serving on the organisational structures.
“My studies have been going well overall, though balancing online coursework and rugby has tested my time management and discipline. I’m now in the thesis and research phase of my degree, working on a large research project and two smaller ones. Once these are completed, I’ll be ready to graduate. I’m grateful to MyPlayers for the bursary that’s helping me finish my studies and I hope to complete everything by the end of this semester or, at the latest, the first semester of next year.”
